Many residents of the Keystone State consider Pennsylvania homeowners insurance a necessity. What could be the reasoning behind their feelings? For the most part, people seem to agree the cost of keeping up with their insurance premiums is much lower than the expenses related to repairing their home and replacing their belongings after a disaster without insurance. Individuals who are on the fence about homeowner’s coverage may find it easier to purchase a policy if they understand what is included.

There are usually six parts to a basic homeowner’s insurance policy. The coverage is often labeled with a letter, A-F.

  • Coverage A may include damage or destruction to your home while coverage B is commonly for similar situations involving detached structures in your yard such as a storage shed.
  • The C section of a policy might come into play when your personal belongings are stolen, damaged, or destroyed.
  • With D, you could be compensated for the cost of alternative lodging, meals, and other living expenses incurred while your home is uninhabitable.
  • Coverage E may provide you with liability coverage for both injuries and damage to property.
  • Finally, to get help with paying the medical bills related to a visitor being injured on your property, you may need to obtain coverage F.

By purchasing all six of the coverage types discussed above, you can help ensure the amount you have to pay out of pocket during an emergency situation is minimized.
